How it Works

Serenity Steffes ETS furnace generates and stores vast amounts of heat during off-peak hours.

This energy is stored within high-density ceramic bricks and released when needed to provide exceptionally comfortable and reliable warmth in every room, at every hour of the day.

Pair it with a heat pump to fully replace your current central heating system.

ETS vs Standard System

Combining government grants and energy savings through Hydro Quebec's Flex D rate, an ETS furnace can save you money compared to a standard furnace.

With the ability to store vast amounts of heat for long periods of time, The ETS furnace takes advantage of off-peak electricity, which is charged at a lower rate since it is consumed during times when demand on the electrical grid is low.

These capabilities can save you on energy bills without sacrificing the comfort and convenience of a traditional heating system.

Why Now?

Take advantage of government grants before they change!

Currently, the government is offering $15,000 of financial assistance for an ETS furnace alone, and $22,000 for an ETS furnace paired with a central heat pump.

FAQ

I have never heard of ETS. Is this a new technology?

Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) has been in North America since the early 70’s. This technology has been proven in many areas across North America to deliver great comfort; and, when combined with Hydro-Quebec Flex-D rates, low operating costs to make it the best cost heating option. ETS is a technology where off-peak electricity is stored as heat and used for heating 24 hours a day. Many power companies offer an off-peak electric rate option that provides as much as 50% or more savings off of the standard electric rate for energy used during off-peak hours. ETS equipment utilizes the low off-peak electric rate to store a sufficient amount of heat to meet comfort requirements.

How long does installation take?

Standard residential installs take less than 1 day

Do you manage rebates?

For the ETS furnace and heat pump Yes! The government grant is applied directly to your quote so you get the savings immediately, no need to wait.

Can the ETS furnace be used with renewable energy sources?

Yes. Since ETS furnaces are storage devices, they can serve as a battery to harness renewable power generated from sources such as wind or solar.

How much does it cost to operate the ETS furnace?

The cost of operation is directly related to the heat loss of the area and the off-peak electricity rate available. The ETS furnace is 100% efficient like most electric heating systems; therefore, electric consumption will be very similar to an electric system. However, since Hydro-Quebec provides off-peak electric rates of which the ETS system can take advantage of, you should experience significant savings over standard electric systems as well as fossil fuel systems.

Does the ETS furnace store "COLD" in the summertime?

No. An ETS furnace is strictly a heat storage device. Your cooling in the summer will come from the heat pump you pair it with.
